¿*Que es HP Slate*?

HP has a history of manufacturing portable touch devices with the Jornada line. Following the acquisition of Compaq, HP stopped producing the Jornada line of Microsoft Windows powered Pocket PCs and continued developing and marketing Pocket PCs in the iPAQ line. HP currently makes the HP TouchSmart series of Tablet PCs, laptops and touchscreen all-in-one desktop computers running Windows 7.
The HP Slate began as an E-Reader concept.[1] After studying consumers' use of devices, HP learned that users wanted something thin and light that was capable of delivering a "rich user experience; to browse, listen to music, watch videos and enjoy media".[2]
HP Chief Technology Officer, Phil McKinney, has stated that "2010 is the optimal year...there is now this convergence of low cost, low power processors, with an Operating System - Windows 7 that is touch aware."[2]
The HP Slate has a 3 megapixel camera on its back panel and a VGA resolution web cam on the front panel, a 8.9" capacitive multi-touch screen supporting 1024×600 pixel resolution with digitizer and pen support. The Slate will be powered by a 1.86 GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor with 1GB DDR2 of non-user upgradeable RAM, 64GB of onboard solid state flash storage and one standard USB 2.0 port. The device will support 1080p playback powered by the Intel GMA 500 integrated graphics chipset in addition to a Broadcom Crystal HD meda accelerator card for hardware assisted video playback. Additionally, memory can be expanded via SD cards. Wireless capabilities include the built-in WiFi supporting 802.11 b/g/n standards and HP Wireless Broadband 3G support. Power is supplied by a 2-cell 30WHr Lithium-Ion battery with an average runtime of 5 hours.[3]
The HP Slate will also have support for a stylus pen/digitizer, to enable on-screen freehand drawing and writing. Windows 7, the announced operating system on the slate, comes with in-built support for digital pen computing, including handwriting recognition and pen-based interaction with the user interface.
The HP Slate will run Windows 7, which includes native touch technology. Adobe Systems and HP have confirmed that the "full web" experience will be available on the HP Slate, including full hardware accelerated Adobe Flash content and Adobe AIR applications.[4
